Bonnie Shaw
Very relationship-focused, Bonnie knows the value of developing solid relationships between her clients and the media. She has been instrumental in landing media appointments, speaking engagements, articles and news coverage for her clients. Whether it’s at top conferences, publications, or broadcast outlets, Bonnie gets her clients recognized. Previously, Bonnie directed marketing and PR for the San Diego Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, where she created and implemented marketing and PR programs for fundraising, research and educational efforts. While at the MS Society, Bonnie obtained the greatest level of publicity for client programs and events ever received in the Chapter's history and also raised over $1.9 million in new contributions. Prior to the MS Society, Bonnie worked as an account executive at San Diego Magazine, where she sold advertising programs to local and national accounts. Bonnie also helped to direct numerous special advertorial sections and photo shoots, and advised clients on how to correlate their print advertising campaigns with direct mail, promotional events and online advertising. Bonnie's public sector experience includes two years experience as director of special projects for the San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce, as well as PR to attract tourists to the City of San Luis Obispo. Bonnie was responsible for all chamber publications, including writing and editing the award-winning San Luis Obispo Visitor's Guide, consumer and business sector tradeshows, and helped to promote regional tourism under contract for the City of San Luis Obispo. Bonnie holds a BS degree in Journalism and Public Relations from California Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo where she was honored with several awards for achievement. While at Cal Poly, Bonnie worked with a team to launch the university's first television station, CPTV, and served as the station's first general manager. An active volunteer, Bonnie sits on the Board of Trustees for the National MS Society, Pacific Southcoast Chapter, and the Women’s Business Center of California, and volunteers for the San Diego Software Internet Council, Public Relations Society of America and the Art Master’s program at her son’s elementary school. Bonnie is a featured speaker on public relations for various non-profit and business organizations, and has received eight Bernays Mark of Excellence awards from the Public Relations Society of America for her work from 2000 to 2007. In 1998 and 1999 Bonnie was honored with an Award for Excellence in Communications, in Western U.S. from the National MS Society.
